i have hair that is somewhere between medium and long hair length and if you think i should shaveit or just get a buzz say so.

a quick hairstyle for long hair, i have medium thickness, do not use hair products, have a blow dryer, curling iron, straightener. have very little time to devote, hair about to lower back... any ideas? need pics and instructions..
well umm try just expirementing! Like try everything try curling your cair and it depends i f this is everyday to school and how much time do you have exctly?
how bout, cut it shorter. haha. itll make it easier to manage and stuff. then you can leave it down and straighten it or throw it in a ponytail everyday.
I don't have pics but what I do is I this Redken product called 'curl perfector' I put that in my hair when it's damp, then I use the diffuser on my blow dryer and scrunch it and it comes out all wavy/curly. My hair is about the same length as yours, mine's really thick though. Hope this helps a little!
you could just put it up in a ponytail, knot, or bun...ponytail is self-explanatory...for the knot i just put it up in a pony tail, twist it around and secure it with a scrunchy...sometimes i secure it with a ponytail or 2 before the scrunchy....it takes 5-10mins depending on you

I used to have waist-length hair (until I gave it away to locks of love), so I understand your problem.
What I used to do was a quick and easy variation on the simple bun:
Put your hair back into a low ponytail on the base of your neck.
Divide the pony tail into two strands, and twist them, then coil them together into a knot. Use an elastic to secure the knotted bun, and then pins to hold the sides down. It takes about three minutes, and you can do it without a mirror. It's really simple to do, and looks gorgeous.
Oh, I have a couple of good ones for ya. My twins had thick fine hair down to their waist and they really had to get creative. One of the tricks they used was to put a bit of mouse in their hair after washing at night and put it into several braids. Like the braids that start at the top of the head and weave all the way down, is it a french braid? Only she would do four of them. Then when she got up in the morning she would put the blow drier on it again to make sure it was completely dry. Then when she took the braid out, her hair would be curly all over. All with just a bit of mousse.
The other one they did was to pull their hair back to make a ponytail. then lift the ponytail up off your neck and gently slip your first two fingers into the middle above the elastic band and pull the whole ponytail through. Like you're pulling it inside out. Then put a ribbon around the elastic. Or you could do that same thing only do the top half of your hair and pull the ponytail then gather the bottom half of your hair and do another one.
Or just do the french braid all the way down the back. Or braid from above one ear over the top of your head to below the other ear.
Put your hair in a bun, low at the back or side and leave out one good strand and curl that strand on your curling iron. And leave a very fine bit of hair around your face to curl for a softer look.
its a bit difficult to try and describe a new hairstyle to you but yeah you can try products to make it curly or dead straight anf smooth, and wear it out! as a general guide dont buy the really cheap products, and the high end stuff often is the best - but the mid range stuff which i use is good too! but heres an idea- instead of fussing with your hair and trying new styles, why dont u get some cute headbands, clips, chopsticks, combs etc and spice it up a bit that way?

and then I twist each bun
then I put a hair band around each of them, then one around both of them

heres somethin i made up the other day i think its really cute. you take the top layer of your hair and pin it out of the way. take the bottom half and put it up in a kind of tight bun in the middle of your head. let down the rest of your hair and take in sections pin them with bobby pins everywhich way around the bun. since your hair is long you might have to do some wrapping around, but it will look cute. do kind of pin curls and stuff.
I know how you feel. I grew up with migrains because of my hair. It was always so thick and heavy. This is what I did. I went to the salon %26amp; had my hair thinned out then shaped in a feathered look toward my face. You need to make sure that they thin it so it is even all over. Then have them weave big chunky streeks of color through just the crown %26amp; the bangs. I had blonde put in my light brown hair. Just thought that might help you. Good luck!

Okay I have really long hair. I mean it's down like past my butt almost. It's pretty thin. It get's frizzy when I don't blow dry it. It's pretty when I wear it down yet I hate the frizz. okay when you get out of the shower put gel into your hair then comb it take sections of your hair in one of your fingers and twirl it until it makes a tight spiral against your scalpand pin it in place.continue to do this for all of your hair until you have a spiral (individually placed) bun. it looks really cute and when you take it out after your hair is dry you get cute spiral curles that look really good too. another thing you can do is put it half up and put a bump in your hair at the top of your head, then take the remaining hair and put it in a loose ponytail at the base of your neck near your right ear. it looks really sexy and cute! go to fashionmagazine.com for more cute hairstyles.

Any particular reason for keeping long hair. If so then try curling all the strands it will shorten the length and also give more volume to your hair and look a bit cute.
i think the only answer to ur problem is to cut it. about to shoulder length. it would look really good and still be some-what long. get some layers and sweep it to the side.

You can make your hair look thicker and healthier by looking after it, having a good diet and not styling it too often, as this can make it brittle.

Hey your hair is a little longer than mine. When you get it cut see if you can donate it to locks for love to the cancer so they can make a whig for a cancer sufferer. I do this once a year. I grow my hair long find a neat hair do I like and go for it. But for you those styles you chose might be a little short it would be a extreme change for you. I would suggest getting a shoulder length cut with a few layers see how you like it than if you wanted to go shorter I say go for it! Stick to one long braid. It's actually very cute,
and probably about as cute as your whacky religion will allow anyway. Actually, a LOT of religions dictate hairstyles, but usually they want shaved heads. You're stuck with braids and buns but maybe the Navaho hairstyle called squash blossom would look different enough to please you.

If it's straight, why not try using a curling iron to make spiral curls? :)
If it's curly, you can pick up 1/2 of it with a hair clip and leave the rest down. Use some gel or mousse to keep the curls. :)
could you get layers?? also, get side bangs for more of a modern twist! try braids, which might still look old fashioned. but i would definetly go with some cute layers. you could go with some twists. hope i helped!

I have hair almost down to my butt, its not that layered and im so bored of it...what can i do to make it look very unique?
Maybe you should actually consider getting layers. You can still keep the length but it will give your hair more volume and movement, plus it won't feel as heavy. Side-swept bangs are cute too.
If you don't want to cut your hair, how about you consider changing its color with a semi-permanent dye? Or highlights? Maybe you could braid it while it's still wet to give it a bit of texture. Half-pulled back hair is always elegant, if you fasten it with a cute clip.

but, yea i have the same problem and it sucks and it's very hard to just leave it out because it always gets in the way. maybe you can try in a low side pony tail with a side part and then straighten the rest like pin straight and then take a bit of hair and wrap it around the hair band to cover the hair band itself. or you can do the same pony tail and apply curl activator to make it curly/wavy whatever type of hair you have naturally. you can also do ponytails with twists in them, or put it up in a bun. besides these you can use cute pins, headbands or scarves to make it a little more fancy.
put it in to pigtails, braid it, put it in a high pony tail the curl the ends of your hair, put it in a bun the possibilities are end less.

How about doing something completely original and not play into a (bad) fashion that isn't worth cutting your hair off into something unmanagable that you'll only regret the next time you're not feeling "emo". But if you're dedicated to the teen angst style, then be prepared to spend lots of money on hair straightening irons, frizz control serums, and specialty products.

Okay my problem is I have side-bangs but also long hair, I have trouble finding cute hairstyle that will work with my hair.
Depending on how many side bangs you have and the length, You could try fluffing out your hair a bit, giving it volume, the pull it up into a pony tail. Leave it loose, tho, letting out a few bangs.
Maybe a fringe would look cute too. Depending on your facial shape, you could try a side swept fringe, which works well with wispy hair. Or to work with the bangs, you could rock a full fringe. They look really cute with a few bangs softening the sides of the fringe, and it frames the face really well, too.

Get it thinned out if you want but it will gro back thick again (personal experience)

that is going to take a very long time. Every month your hair grows about half an inch, so in one year your hair would have grown 6 inches. Maybe a year or two. get extensions.

well i would say about a year and a half. ur hair grows half and inch per month.
i know your hair is short, but what you'll have to do to keep it growing it to get your hair trimmed (about 1 to 1/2 an inch) every 4 weeks, it helps the growing process, that way i'll take about a year (which is pretty fast).... or you can get extensions, but i suggest getting them after your hair grows about and inch past your shoulders....

Everyone's hair is different. But I cut my hair to a very short bob style in January 2005 and it's now grown out to the middle of my back.
I supposed it would take about another year or two to get to the length you want.
All in all, about 4 years.
On the average hair grow 1/4" every 14 days your may grow a little faster or slower but expect a 1/2" grow a month.
The length of your hair is written in your genetic, you may let your hair grow for 20 years and they would never reach this length. My own hair grows very fast around 1 inch a month, I grow easily 1 foot of hair per year....I don't do anything it is just part of my genetic heritage. If you want long hair like this right now you should have extensions.....cause by the time they reach the necessary length this style may not be in fashion anymore.

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.
First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)
Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)
Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)
Use a teaspoon of every oil and honey,.... a little more if ur hair is long or a little less if ur hair is short
Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed, fortify, reconstruct, moisturize, soften %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!
The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower
You can also use a conditioner but get a light conditioner that wont wiegh ur hair down, becuz u can over condition, I use herbl essences "clean happy" conditioner.
When I do this at nite, I wake up, shampoo %26amp; condition, rinse and style as usual. Has worked for years
You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

I have super curly hair that's the same length as yours. Here's what I do, hope it helps:
Wash Hair. Condition for 2 minutes. Rinse in cool water and leave a *little* conditioner in hair. Squeeze out excess water (gently). DO NOT TOWEL DRY! Use a dime size amount of frizz serum (any kind but I like frizz eaze). Run through ends, avoid roots. Comb once or twice with wide tooth comb while still wet. Use a quarter size (maybe slightly bigger) amount of gel. I love Biolage Gelee, not sticky. Rub gel between palms and distribute evenly through hair. Gently shape into the style you want (parted, side swept, etc). Ready?
Don't touch! Let your hair air dry if you have time. I never use a blow dryer, it makes me poofy. The less you touch your hair, the more it will form natural curls. Good luck!!!

I love curly hair, but im blessed with wavy hair so i do my best to make it look curly and wet all day. What i do is i take gell and i put my head down and gell it up while its still i little bit wet after i put enough gell on i scrunch it up with a towel so it will absorb some of the water. after i curl it up i just put my front hair into a little poof. i think thats the best every day wear for curly hair. good luck!

Just start choppin' for the haircut, not hard to do. Then put in highlights and cover with as many different shades of manic panic dye as you can find. Now to style just spray every which way with a whole can of hairspray.
Pic 1 is the kind of cut ask for alot of short layers. Pic 2 is the same thing, the person just used texturizer on peices of hair which seperates the strands and stays where u put them. Report It

OK, i would curl your hair just a little with a small headband. I would get a head band that has two bands on it but they are put together. Pull just a little hair so it isn't with the head band but by your face. I saw this on somone once. She also had blonde hair. It was sooo pretty! Good luck!

my hair is down to a bit below my waist. i find styling my hair very challenging. it takes me hours sometimes(if i really want to style it LOL). right now i only put it in a pony tail and i braid it after i shower everyday(i dont want to let down my hair even with a ponytail since it is summer and if i let it down i will really feel the hotness. besides, it is much easier to pony up and braid my hair LOL). does anybody know any nice hairstyles that are not too difficult and time-consuming to achieve for us long-haired girls??? does anybody have any pictures of any hairstyles for long hair that i could see??? some hairstyles that dont let my hair go down would be nice. i will get too hot if my hair is down, my hair is black so it would do me no favors if i let it down in this hot weather. i want to try something new with my hair LOL.
A braid is a good place to start. Make a braid fairly high on your head and fasten it with a hair safe elastic or hosery. Now, wind the braid around it's self, making a flat, smooth spiral from the inside out. Tuck the end of the braid and the tie under the coil and anchor the coil to your head. You can use hairsticks, a Ficcare or Fakkare clip or hairpins. This is a pretty, elegant easy, well balanced hairstyle that will last all day.
A simple cinnamon bun is pretty and easy and will keep your hair off your neck and neat all day. Just gather your hair in a ponytail about halfway up the bak of your head. Don't tie it off. Gently twist your hair into a rope. Not too tight, tho. Wind the rope in a roll on the back of your head, spirialling out from the inside, laying the coils of hair flat against your head, outside the inner one. Tuck the end of the coil in under the roll, then pin or clip or fasten with hairsticks.
There are tons and tons of beautiful, easy, fun styles for long hair. They just take a little knowhow and a little practice. An updo is timeless, elegant, pretty and keeps you cool and comfy in the Summer. :)

As a hairstylist I suggest cutting it! Hair that long takes a very long time to style, its hard to work with as well. You should consider cutting it to about your breasts. why not try putting mousse in it? For some beach waves, or why not try some loose curls?
ok well my first advice is just getting it layered, just tell your stylist you dont want any lenght off. you will look stunning with out styling it and youll feel better about yourself
another hairstyl that is very quick and easy is scrunching hair. all you have to do is blow dry your hair a bit when your out of the shower, just until its a little damp. then spray hair spray all over one side of your hair and srunch up ur hair with your hands. then do the same to the other side. it will tak only up to 15 minutes and you will look amazing
another thing you can do is try a half pony tail it wil bring up some of your hair so it doesnt get in your face and you will look way better than when wearing a braid or ponytail
Oh, I know how u feel. My hair is the same lenght as yours. About the waist. Summer turns to a nightmare. Try this: Make a high ponytail(not too hight though), then take the "hanging" hair and somehow wrap it around the hair band(I mean the where the ponytail starts). It's classical and saves us from summer heat. xoxo
You could try styling your hair with a quiff at the front and then pull it into a ponytail at the back.
I know other people have suggested cutting it but if you do you may regrett it, what i would suggets is get it styled, maybe a few layers as it will allow your hair to move a lot more and may not be as hot when you wear it down. Another choice could be to ringlet it , as it curls will take a few inches off the ends.
You could also pull your hair round into a side ponytail that way it is not gonna be hot on your back.
Or for summer you could get it braided, to your head.

Usually it's very odd when people with very light hair or very dark hair changes their hair color cause it's already such a dramatic color! If you have a round face, you can get side bangs to cover up. Get Layers. You can maybe get highlights to brighten up.

Deemonie...... Try looking at the models for mens underware on undergear, and other places. Im sure you will find something you maybe able to use. If you do fill out a form for a free pamplet, and you will have it to take with you to the stylist. A lot of the styling shops have books to help you if you ask. Good Luck!
If you will be working with the public you will have to keep it neat. This may include a haircut so you don't have any hair covering your eyes or face. I can't tell you what this style looks like. If you will be working behind-the-scenes so to speak then they could allow for a more natural, clean look. Put some product in it so you don't look like you just got up though.
When I attended college in late 1970's the longer hairstyles of today are exact, like the Beatles. You will not be interviewing for a position clients or visitors of the business will often approach I don't believe. Changes in style occur and noted by upper management in many ways, i.e., daughter brings in date, son grow the style, seen on TV, etc. Interview as your are, dress nice, let manager speak, you have info you researched night before to show interest, and you ask questions you wrote down as well at proper intervals.

If handed one, then it becomes your decision to accept, manager already is "yes".
I once allowed potential employees I interviewed if I felt convertible to converse with current just to see if this was going to work, but each needs to form their own opinion.

With longer hair, you should target companies that are more edgy, like an advertising firm, etc. Don't bother with law firms or more conservative offices. They will most likely go for the more traditional business style.
Honestly, most bosses are skeptical about hiring someone who is so concerned with keeping their hair looking "cool". They figure that this person has priorities that will conflict with doing a good job.
Especially problematic is the idea of hair over your eyes. I think that part will have to go if you want anyone to take you seriously. Most people find it suspicious that someone is hiding their eyes under their hair.
You might consider something that women in their 20s have been doing since the 80s: two hairstyles - 1 for work, 1 for after hours - 1 head of hair!

It sounds like you need a good stylist to give you some long layers. Layers will solve the "poofs" and if they are long enough and blended well they won't be obvious. You may also want to take just a tiny bit off the length...say 1 to 2 inches. I would start with that before doing anything drastic. It sounds like your hair has the potential to be gorgeous!

Get a few inches cut off your hair length as this is healthy for your hair. I recommend you get your hair thinned and long layers. With this hair style you will be able to have it down or up in any style. Dont get short layers because if you decide to have it pinned up it may not fit in properly.

Same here! My hair, besides being long, is very thick, so for events, I knew I would have trouble with it being too heavy for an up-do. What I have done in the past is, have only sections put up. Curl it all with banana curls all over, but in thin sections. Put it up in layers, with the highest section being right at the top of your head. It will be beautiful! You can still wear your headbands with bangs, and you can also brush them over the side, and secure them with a cute clip or bobby pin. Hairstyles today, are all accepted, just find a style that suits you. Go to the mall, and visit a bookstore, and look through some of the hairstyle magazines, you may find something in there that you like. If you want to keep your air long, thats cool, you can still get the "emo" bangs without having to cut to much. Just part your hair to the side and see how it looks. If you cut your hair in layers along with it, it will complete the look, and as long as you tell the hairstylist before-hand, you won't have to lose hardly any lengnth

First you should go to a good hairdresser. Get hair magazines cut out examples of the type of look you want to go for and take those to the best hairdresser you can afford - seriously. If I was a bloke and wanting a really decent haircut I would go an travel to London, Manchester or Leeds and go to the top hairdressers there to have a new cut done.
Local hairdressers are crap. I am lucky. I live in London.

Get lots of choppy layers and get dark red streaks in your hair. Dark red looks wonderful in dark brown hair and with your coloring it would be great. Side bangs are always really cute too.

i always have to wear just a plain ponytail because my hair is just so boring! its getting quite long maybe about to my boobs and its not layered or anything and i dont have a fringe or bangs or anythings its just straight up and down and thick. i hate it!
so does anyone know any know tips for me that doesnt include a boring ponytail?! im not that good at plaits or anything but i guess i could try...or maybe just a good style with a clip and my hair down or something??

I have the same problem! Try taking some hair from the top and clipping the small piece on top of you head, and push it forward a little bit. Then leave the rest of the hair down. You can always make your hair really curly and bushy, and get a tight headband and put it on. That will make your hair stand out, in a good way. When I'm in a hurry, I'll style my hair with mousse and hairspray, srunching it, and then gather it all and make a huge, loose bun on the top of your head. It's easy, fast, and looks really good. Try making some french braid pigtails.

I used to have the same problem. altho my hair is wavy. what I did was first get layers because it makes your hair slightly more manageable and look more interesting. then, leave all of your hair down but part it on the side and pull up one side with a clip. wear your hair like your proud!
You should try getting bangs. You can wear them with a bun or ponytail and they won't make your hair look so boring :)
i used to be the same and then i started putting my hair up in a scruffy bun with a little ribbon round it it was good coz u didint have to keep messin wit your hair all day either! u should try it!
Getting layers would look nice, or maybe trim your bangs so that their at least shorter than the rest of your hair.
As for a style that's quick and easy, take the front part of your hair (the part that would be considered bangs) and clip it back, letting the rest hang down. How much hair you clip up depends on what you like.
Homecoming is in a few weeks, as you all know. Not only do you have to choose the dress but also what hairstyle you want for it. I want a hairstlye that would go with almost any dress and since i have really thick hair i will need to either straighten it or curl it or put it up. Any help or website addresses you could give me would be a great help. Wish me luck for homecoming!

Hi, I have thick, long (past bra-strap) wavy auburn hair. I haven't cut it in ages. Hairsylists hate me because I don't regularly take care of my hair.
Recently I've noticed how it seems to make my long/oval face look even longer when I wear it down. I really like my long hair and am wondering how to give my hair a little more volume or shape without losing length.
I don't ever use product on my hair, or blowdry it - it just takes too long. I literally "wash %26amp; wear it"!
Get Blonde Hi-Lites. I think they give it volume, but you need to take better care of it; don't cut it but take good care of it.
well angles won't help unless you have layers all over. And not short layer, but longer layers and a flirty bangs. with naturally curly hair you need layers or you will look like a tent, flat on top and big on the bottom. And I understand you don't do your hair but after the "new" cut you need to at least put a curl enhancer in it. Like ISO bouncy cream or Pureology's curl definer. I will protect your hair from everyday harsh elements and hold a air dried style better. Plus if you have a oval face, any hair style will work. You have the perfect shape for any style. hope that helps and make sure the person cutting your hair is a trusted stylist and doesn't get scissor happy. So long layers and NO razor. If you use a razor on curly hair it will get fuzzy!!!

Definetly a cute, thick head band. Wear a polo and on top of that wear a t-shirt, like ones from American Eagle, and bermuda shorts, with a pair of cute flats. Also, pearls are very preppy, or long, bead necklace.
Do anything that compliments your features. If you always do the same thing with it then people will love to see something new and fresh so just go crazy and try everything that you have seen in magazines and whatever you like then try it. Everytime you try something new with it itll make people see you as a hottie.

my hair is thick and brown too adn its curly, and falls to my sholder blades, so i'm not sure if its as lomg as yours. but i have a layered cut or a shag. and no its not a farrah fawcett shag, teh layers are longer. just go to your hairdresser and ask her to "shag" you! lol

Its really cute! Braid it over night and in the morning it will be like it and put hair spray in it to hold it.
if you have 1" straighteners just straighten all of your hair.
then when its straight ; flip it and wave it with the tongs.
seeing as they're only 1" youh can use them for that kinda thing=]

My freinds mum knows alot about medical stuff, and she said that they put stuff in the model's hair that is superbad for your hair.
I would try to wash my hair, put some moose in it then put it in a few buns. Use bobbie pins and make like four buns in your hair. Then wait til it dries. Maybe go to bed like that.
you get it permed wtih big curls and let it grow out a bit and use garnier fructis curl shaping gel and hairspray everyday on it..
well I'm not an expert but u should cut ur hair in long layers mostly around ur face and long side bangs and add some low lights that are just a few shades lighter than ur hair so they blend in nicely with ur hair and well then after that u need a curling iron curl ur hair and then run ur fingers in ur hair to make them look more loose u may also want to use some serum in ur hair like the john Frieda frizz ease and then for the finishing touch add some firm holding hair spray like Crystal Clear shape %26amp; shimmer hairspray from john frieda
u don't need too much just a little spray will do there are many great products but john frieda has them just for blondes hopefully i helped a little

high school is not that big of a deal. just keep doing it the way you were and don't try to make it look like you spend 54975348975 hours in front of the mirror before you come to school. believe me, senior guys ALWAYS go for the incoming freshmen girls. i think it's gross, but that's the way it is.
put some frizz controller or smoothing creme from your stylist, or john frieda and loreal have some great ones, and wear it down. put it in as side part, and wear a cute headband,. claires has some buy 1 get one half off, and forever 21 and wet seal always have some great ones.

Well, I am almost in High school, and I think it would look cute if you scrunched your hair and then pulled the front of your hair to the back and clip it but still have your hair down in the and then put the hair in the back over your shoulders! I tried that and I loved it.
sounds like we have the same hair lol. all i ever do is staighten it.... its quick and looks good. i also take a curling iron and run it down my hair (like i do the straightener) then at the bottom flip it out.... or under. also try big spiral curls and the bottoms... that takes a lot of hairspray though. have fun and good luck in the big HS!!!
A hairstyle that looks really good if you have long layers is to straighten the top layer of hair, and leave the rest curly/wavy, but straighten some strands.
