I cant determine what shape my face is, it looks oval at times or long. What would help take away attention from my nose? I also have a lot of hair would layers help it feel lighter and give more volume?

Personally, I like the 2nd picture. Your face is a little long but not thin, which is good for this tupe of hair cut. Your forehead is the perfect size for bangs -- and bangs will give your face a shorter shape. The razored out layers will thin out your thick hair. Plus, I notice that having long hair that just weighs you down will bring out your nose more than having short and choppy hair.

Again, this is just my personal opinion. I've had my hair EVERY length and short has worked out great for me
